To advance geo sciences, including the study of the earth sciences and the interests of the geoscience professionals and practitioners in Kenya and beyond.
Vision Statement
To be a dynamic Society leading in the promotion of Geology & Geosciences and the advancement and the professional growth of its Members in serving the Kenyan Community and the world at large.
GSK’s Objectives
- Promote the welfare of members
- Uphold professional standards and ethics as contained in the code of professional conduct of the Society
- Remaining non-political, notwithstanding this provision, by a resolution of the members, the Society in a non-partisan manner, reserves the right to comment on issues of public interest.
- Cooperate with other organizations and groups having complementary objectives, particularly in the fields of conservation, research, infrastructure, mining and geological innovations.
- Create revenue generating activities for the Society
- Encourage research into any area of geological practice and administration and the care and use of geological tools and equipment.
- Establish and maintain communication and cooperation amongst geologists, the institutions in which they work and the users of geological products and findings.
- Establish and maintain standards of geological practice and administration and of professional conduct amongst geologists
- Establish standards of geological qualifications and professional training.
- Promote a professional identity amongst geologists and to advance their professional standing and welfare;
- Promote amongst the general public and special groups an understanding of the nature of geological activities and their values and risks;
- Promote by all available means the geological advancement in Kenya through education, research and innovation
- Provide a means of collecting, coordinating and disseminating information relevant to the practice, status, and problems of the Geological profession;
- Provide an authoritative voice on matters of Geological concern to the general public.
- Publish a journal and other material relating to the objects of the Society bi-annually
